Matthias Dörsam

Matthias Dörsam (* 1960 in Mannheim ) is a German musician ( saxophone , clarinet , flute ) of modern jazz and composer.

Live and act

Dörsam, who comes from a musical family (the musician Adax Dörsam is his brother), studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim and the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He worked with Woody Shaw , Art Farmer , the Big Band of Thilo Wolf and the hr-Bigband . He presented the CD “Live In Strasbourg” with his own quartet and the album “Don't Tell My Mother” with the Frankfurt City Blues Band . He was a member of the Mardi Gras bb , with which he recorded the albums "Live Im Capitol", "Movement" and "Big Brass Bed", and is a member of the Rodgau Monotones and Dirik Schilgens Jazz Grooves . He has also worked on albums from Jens Bunge , Pe Werner , DePhazz , Lydie Auvray , Joana , Schramml'n'Slide and Sydney Youngblood . As a composer he also wrote a “Concerto for Jazz Band and Orchestra” and “Old World New World”, a concerto for Marching Band and Symphonic Wind Orchestra .
