The Sacré Coeur Pressbaum is a Roman Catholic private school of the Archdiocese of Vienna in the municipality of Pressbaum in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land in Lower Austria . The monumental late-historic building complex with a monastery, monastery church, institute and several detached outbuildings, located elevated above the village of Pressbaum directly on the Alte Westbahn , is a listed building .

history

With a foundation of the imperial family, a monastery with a monastery church was built from 1891 to 1894 according to the plans of the architect Richard Jordan by the builder Josef Schmalzhofer for the women's order Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Sacré-Cœur) and the school institute Sacré Coeur.

In 1938 the school was closed and converted into a hospital by the Wehrmacht . The school building was then converted into a “special children's home” as a branch of the Spiegelgrund mental hospital .
