Sage is part of the community of Großenkneten in the district of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony . The place is 2.5 km west of the center of Großenkneten. The A 29 runs 2 km to the west.
One of the world's largest, most modern and environmentally friendly natural gas processing plants operated by Exxon Mobil is located in Sage. There the sour gas , which occurs frequently in northern Germany, is cleaned by removing the hydrogen sulfide .
The Sage War Cemetery , a British memorial cemetery for fallen soldiers from Commonwealth countries, was established in Sage after the Second World War .
