The sequel to Saints Row 2 was released worldwide on October 17, 2008, excluding Germany. In Germany, the game was released in a heavily censored version on November 28, 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 . The PC version was subsequently released on January 23, 2009.
action
As in the first part of the series, it is primarily about switching off rival gangs in order to gain control over individual parts of the city and gradually over the entire city. The three gangs in this part are The Brotherhood , the Sons of Samedi and the Ronin. The three gangs have different styles.
3rd Street Saints (Prologue)
At the start of the game, the player completes a handful of quests for the Saints as such. This includes recruiting new gang members, conquering a new gang hideout and meeting the head of the Maero Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood
The brotherhood wears the gang color red. You can see very clearly that it represents the style of the bikers and rockers. For example, they have many tattoos on their bodies. This gang is one of the most aggressive. The leaders of the gang are Maero, who clearly marks his territory as the actual leader, his best friend Matt, who is the guitarist of the band "feed dogs", and Jessica, Maero's girlfriend. Another well-known member is Donnie, who appeared in the first part is the Brotherhood's mechanic. The leader of the Saints, who was supposed to take care of the Brotherhood, dies in the fourth mission for the Brotherhood. His name is Carlos and he helps you break out of prison at the beginning of the game. Shaundi and Pierce then split up the work on the brotherhood. The first mission for the 3rd Street Saints called Defenders is where you mess with them for the first time. Your coat of arms is the wolf.
The sons of Samedi
The Samedi named themselves after a voodoo god of the dead. The gait color of the Samedi is green. Your gang style isn't really clear. The members wear various dreadlocks as hairstyles and the main source of income for this gang is drug dealing. Because of this, it can be said that the gang style of them are the drug dealers. As with the brotherhood, the main characters of the Samedi are three. The main leader is a man who has given himself the name "General". He always drives around town in his limousine. Very rarely does he take care of business himself. His deputy is his best friend called "Mister Sunshine". This is the general's right-hand man and assistant. He is killed in the penultimate mission for the Samedi. The third leader is a minor radio station DJ. He calls himself a "veteran child". This is the doormat of the actual leader. He is one of Shaundi's ex-boyfriends, a leader of the 3rd Street Saints. This also takes care of gathering information for the Samedi. In the course of the missions, all leaders of this gang are also killed. Their coat of arms is the skull and the first confrontation with the Samedi takes place in one of the first missions.
The ronin
Their gait color is yellow and their gait style is reminiscent of the Japanese yakuza. Their three leaders are Kazuo Akuji, an old frail man who despises his son, Shogo Akuji, an early 20-year-old who really does everything wrong that can be done wrong, and Junichi, the ronin's best worker who im The course of the missions in the reputation of Kazuo rises and brings the leader of the Saints Johnny Gat to the hospital. Subsequently, Junichi is killed in a duel on a campaign of revenge by the Saints. Your coat of arms is a dragon head.
Ultor (epilogue)
After the execution of all the hostile gangs (The Brotherhood, The Ronin, The Sons of Samedi), the Saints are caught in the crosshairs of the Ultor group. The executive suite consists of a board of directors, in which Dane Vogel also has his seat. The supervisory board instructs Vogel, as part of the “Brighter Future and a Better Life” campaign, to wipe out all Saints. After several attacks by special forces have failed, the Saints embark on a campaign of revenge, which has the result that all Ultor facilities are destroyed and the entire executive suite including Dane Vogel is killed. After the final showdown at the top of the Ultor headquarters in Stilwater, the Saints fly into the sunset in a helicopter and the game ends with the quote, “This is our damn town. We can do whatever we feel like doing! "
By completing side missions, killing enemies or destroying objects, the player gains money as well as respect points, which are required to unlock the main missions and advance the story or to be able to recruit more gang members to follow you.
Gameplay
The game takes place in an open world, which means that the player can move freely around the map and practically do whatever he likes. Saints Row 2 is very violent and sometimes morally questionable, as it rewards the killing of innocent passers-by, for example, but it is also peppered with black humor and never takes itself very seriously. As in the competitor product GTA IV , in addition to various types of land vehicles, helicopters or boats are available to move through the game world.
In the German version several missions and the blood were removed and the cut scenes were heavily cut.
indexing
The Federal Testing Agency for Media Harmful to Young People (BPjM) determined that the uncut version was relevant to criminal law and indexed the game on List B. The activation restrictions described in the link "Schnittberichte" are no longer applicable, the German version is cut, the ROW version (rest -Of-World) not. The ROW version cannot be purchased in Germany via Steam. An existing, e.g. B. A license transferred by a third party can, however, be activated on any account anywhere without any restrictions.

The third part of the series (Saints Row: The Third) was released on November 15, 2011 in North America and on November 18 in Europe. The German version is cut. The action is set in 2011 and is about the renewed rise of the Saints in a new city. There are many main and side missions, as well as additional missions.
action
After rising in Stilwater and taking over Ultor, 3rd Street Saints have become icons of pop culture. Johnny Gat bobble dolls at every checkout, giant Shaundi and Pierce posters adorn the cityscape of Stilwater and Steelport. Their rise did not go unnoticed, however. A professionally organized association of three gangs called the Syndicate also wants a piece of the cake. The player, Johnny, Pierce and Shaundi are kidnapped by the head of the Syndicate, Phillipe Loren. He makes demands that the Saints naturally disagree with. An exchange of fire between soldiers of the Syndicate and the Saints gives the impression of Johnny's death.
The player, Pierce and Shaundi now begin to tear apart the city of the Syndicate, Steelport, and hunt down every single member of the three gangs. A completely over-the-top, colorful and crazy campaign of revenge begins. After Morgenstern and the Deckers are done and Phillipe Loren is crushed by a gigantic bullet, the STAG initiative (a futuristic military organization) becomes aware of the enormous brutality in Steelport. General Cyrus Temple occupies the city with several units and again the Saints, who are still hunting the last gang leader, Killbane, are in the crosshairs of a powerful organization.
After the Saints have largely destabilized STAG, Cyrus has Shaundi kidnapped and brought to the city's landmark. STAG planned to razed this landmark to the ground and to transfer responsibility to the Saints so that they could still be charged with terrorism. On the other hand, the Saints have determined the location of Killbane.
At this point, the player is given the choice of which goal he wants to pursue. So two different ends are possible:
- Shaundi's rescue
If the player decides to save Shaundi, Killbane escapes, but Shaundi is rescued and STAG's terrorist activities become public. In the further epilogue, the Saints pursue Killbane to a base on Mars. After the showdown, however, it turns out that this is just a movie.
- The revenge of the Saints
The player succeeds in brutally killing Killbane at Steelports Airport, but Shaundi dies when the landmark explodes. In the epilogue, STAG attacks Steelport again and the anger and hate-driven Saints manage to bring down Cyrus once and for all.
Gangs
Again, the predominance in a city is in the foreground, but this time with a lot of black humor, sometimes absurd mission goals and exaggerated representation of violence. This is called Steelport and is ruled by three gangs: Morgenstern, Deckers and the Luchadores. The alliance of everyone is called Syndicate and is fought in the course of the game by the futuristic-looking military group STAG.
Morgenstern (Morningstar)
Have made the color red their own and are what we understand by mafia. The men wear suits and the women leather coats. Headquarters is a tower in the city center with adjacent parking lots.
Decker
Appear in the color blue and are talented hackers. Their clothes are punk-like and they have found their headquarters in the old nuclear power plant.
Luchadores
All male and dress like their leader: wrestlers. All have head masks in the gang color green and their headquarters is the Three Count Casino, recognizable by the oversized wrestler statue on the roof.
STAG
A military organization that appears roughly in the middle of the storyline. Your soldiers support the police with patrols throughout the city. Their headquarters is a gigantic aircraft carrier off the coast and they bring laser weapons and VTOL aircraft into the game.
Saints
The player has a choice of outfits for his own gang members, but the color purple always dominates.
Guest appearances
In Saints Row: The Third , there are some celebrity several guest appearances, including Hulk Hogan as the voice for professional wrestler Angel De lamuerte and Burt Reynolds Himself.
vehicles
In Saints Row 3 there is a large selection of vehicles that can be controlled by the player: There are “normal” street cars, military vehicles, STAG military vehicles as well as boats, helicopters and airplanes. Most of the vehicles can be improved or adapted. The player can change individual components as well as the performance.
Saints Row IV
At the request of THQ President Jason Rubin, Volition converted the already well advanced work on the stand-alone expansion Enter the Dominatrix to Saints Row: The Third into a full-fledged sequel in mid-2012 . With the bankruptcy and breakup of THQ, the developer studio and the trademark rights were transferred to Deep Silver, which allowed development to continue. Saints Row 4 continues the plot of the third part. In it, the player character is elected president and has to protect the nation from an alien invasion. Saints Row 4 was released on August 23, 2013 for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and on December 21, 2015 for Linux.
Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell
As part of the Penny Arcade Expo , the standalone expansion of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell was announced. The game was released in Europe on January 23, 2015 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Windows. December 21, 2015 for Linux.
After the universe was made unsafe in Saints Row 4 , hell is now being turned upside down. Players take on the roles of Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington and venture into the world of the devil to save the leader of the Saints. Historical celebrities, old friends, even older enemies, a speaking weapon, a full-length musical number and even more nonsense should await the players.
Saints Row 4: Re-Elected
Also, Saints Row 4: Re-Elected was during the Penny Arcade Expo announced that is to be a new edition for the current consoles.
