The Sajanski Pass ( Russian Саянский перевал , transcribed Sajanski Perewal ) is an important road connection in southern Siberia (Russia) near the border with Mongolia . It is located at 2206 m above sea level in Western Sayan .
The pass connects the remote Autonomous Republic of Tuva with the major cities of Western Siberia via a 250 km long mountain road . Coming from Krasnoyarsk and Abakan , the road runs through the town of Abasa through the gorges of the western Sayan Mountains. On the southeast side of the elongated mountain range up to 3000 m high, it leads over to Ak-Dowurak in Tuwa and on to the capital Kyzyl .
A second connection to the Republic of Tuva leads from Abakan through the Eastern Sayan .
