Salamat was a Finnish ice hockey club from Kirkkonummi , which was founded in 2002 and played in the Mestis between 2003 and 2008 . In August 2009 the association was dissolved due to bankruptcy. The team played their home games in the Varuboden Areena .
history
The club was initially based in Espoo and was known as EPS (Espoon Palloseura). EPS took part in the Suomi-sarja , the third Finnish league in ice hockey. In 2001 EPS was sold and relocated to Kirkkonummi. The name was changed to Salamat .
The team's new owners were a local multi-purpose hall operating company, team manager Markku Kulmala and NHL player Teemu Selänne . In 2006 Selänne sold his shares.
In 2003 the club rose to the Mestis with the championship title of Suomi-Sarja , in which Salamat participated until 2008. This was followed by relegation to Suomi-Sarja, before the club was dissolved in August 2009 due to bankruptcy.
