Tomas Sinisalo (born January 15, 1986 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , USA ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Herlev Hornets in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen since 2011 . His father Ilkka was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Tomas Sinisalo began his career as a hockey player in the youth division of Jokerit Helsinki , for which he was active until 2002. In the following three years the attacker ran for the junior teams of Espoo Blues from Finland, from Leksands IF from Sweden. The 2003/04 season he ended with the Green Bay Gamblers from the junior league United States Hockey League . In the summer of 2005, the left shooter moved to SaiPa Lappeenranta , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2005/06 season , scoring a goal in ten games. Also in this season he played for his ex-club and SaiPa's league rivals Espoo Blues, as well as the Finnish U20 national team , HC Salamat and Kiekko-Vantaa in the second-class Mestis .

The 2006/07 season began Sinisalo with the Espoo Blues, but also played for the first division team KalPa Kuopio and again the HC Salamat in the Mestis. However, the winger ended the season at the Malmö Redhawks in the Swedish Elitserien , with which he missed relegation. Instead of going with the team in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan , he joined the TPS Turku from the SM-liiga, for which he was a regular player for two years until 2009. For the 2009/10 season, the Finn received a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers , for which his father had already played. In the training camp, however, he could not prevail, so he played for the Finnish second division team Kiekko-Vantaa in the following one and a half seasons . In January 2011 he moved to Hvidovre League Hockey from the Danish AL bank Ligaen . For the 2011/12 season he moved within the league to the Herlev Hornets .

International

For Finland Sinisalo took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2006 , in which he finished third with his team.
