Salome is a census-designated place in La Paz County in the US state of Arizona . Salome has 1690 inhabitants on an area of 71 km². Salome is affected by US Highway 60 . The place was founded in 1904 by Charles H. Pratt , his brother Ernest Pratt and Dick Wick Hall . The place was named after Charles Pratt's wife Salome, who had taken off her shoes on arrival and burned her feet on the hot sand; hence the slogan of the place "Salome where she danced". Salome is located in the McMullen Valley between the Harquahala Mountains and the Harcuvar Mountains .
