Solomon Dubno
Solomon Dubno , fully Schelomo ben Joel Dubno (Hebrew שלמה בן יואל דובנה; born 1738 in Dubno , Volhynia ; died June 26, 1813 in Amsterdam ) was a Hebrew poet and enlightener from the Mendelssohn circle . He was u. a. Teacher to Mendelssohn's children and biurist .
Life
Solomon grew up in Dubno, lived and later learned in Galicia . In 1767 he came to Amsterdam . In 1772 he went to Berlin . In 1782, after the death of Moses Mendelssohn, he went to Wilna , then to Frankfurt am Main and finally back to Amsterdam.
Salomo Dubno left a comment on Mendelssohn's translation of the Bible , a work on the geography of Palestine , an elegy on the death of Jacob Emden and other poems. The catalog of his library, published in Amsterdam in 1814, contains 2,076 printed works and 106 manuscripts.
