Solomon Sea (Engl. Solomon Sea )

The Solomon Sea or Solomon Sea is a marginal sea located in the southern Pacific Ocean between New Guinea in the west, New Britain in the north and the Solomon Islands in the east. In the south it is connected with the Coral Sea , in the northwest with the Bismarck Sea . The Louisiade archipelago lies between the Solomon Sea and the Coral Sea . The area of ​​the Solomon Sea is about 720,000 km². During World War II, the Solomon Sea was the scene of major battles between the Allies and the Japanese Empire , including the Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands.

In the north of the Solomon Sea the New Britain-Bougainville-Graben runs with the Planettief .

Demarcation
