Sam Angel (born November 30, 1920 in San Francisco , California - March 21, 2007 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was a professional American poker player . He won two bracelets in the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Angel financed his poker career as a jeweler . In the 1950s he also worked as a driver for the high roller Nick Dandolos . Angel died in Las Vegas on March 21, 2007 at the age of 86 .

Poker career

Career

Angel won his first bracelet at the 1973 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas . For this, he prevailed against 31 other players in the Limit Razz variant and received a prize of 32,000 US dollars . Two years later he won the tournament again, securing his second bracelet and $ 17,000. At the WSOP in 1984 and 1987 , he made the money once.

In total, Angel has earned $ 182,000 playing poker in live tournaments.
