Samir Toplak (born April 23, 1970 in Varaždin ) is a former Croatian football player .

Career

Toplak played until 1998 in the 1st HNL , the Croatian first division, with NK Varaždin . From there he moved to Germany for VfL Bochum . He played with Bochum in the Bundesliga in the 1998/99 season . In his first season in Germany he played 21 games under coach Klaus Toppmöller and scored one goal. He played in defense alongside Axel Sundermann , Tomasz Waldoch and Torsten Kracht . Toplak's first Bundesliga season was unsuccessful, and at the end of the season Bochum relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . Bochum achieved immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga in the 1999/2000 season . For Toplak, his second Bundesliga season followed, which also ended with relegation. He stayed in Bochum for another year, during which the promotion was made again. Toplak returned to the NK Varaždin. In 2005 he moved to NK Granicar Tucenik, with whom he played for a year in the amateur field. Toplak has been a football coach since 2010 and has coached NK Varaždin, Cibalia Vinkovci and, since the end of December 2012, HNK Gorica . He then moved to NK Zelina in 2013 and to Inter Zaprešić in 2014 .
