The Sandbach is a nearly one kilometer long stream in the southeastern Palatinate Forest and in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Südliche Weinstrasse , which flows into the Dernbach from the left and east .

The Sandbach rises in the Palatinate Forest at about 243  m above sea level. NHN about 800 m southeast of Dernbach in a mixed forest in the area of ​​the Frankweiler district . Its valley basin lies west below the Orensfelsen .

It initially flows about 250 m in a south-westerly direction, then changes its direction to west-northwest and passes the municipal boundary to Dernbach. A good 600 m downstream it is fed on its right by the Wegbach coming from the northeast .

The Sandbach then makes a gentle curve to the left, still crosses under the L 506 , then runs almost 100 m straight through the Au and finally flows into the Dernbach at about 189  m from the left .
