Sandy is a city in Clackamas County in the US state of Oregon .
location
Sandy is located on the Sandy River about 25 kilometers east of County Seat Oregon City at an altitude of 299 meters. US Highway 26 runs through the city .
The city has an area of 9.03 km², of which 9.0 km² is land and 0.03 km² is water.
history
The first settlers, the Revenue family, settled on Barlow Road , built in 1846, in 1853 , and opened a trading post for settlers who moved to the Willamette Valley via the Oregon Trail from the east . The developing place was first named Revenue after its founders , first at the end of the 19th century it was renamed Sandy after the river . The former village was incorporated as a city in 1913.
Demographics
According to the 2010 United States Census , Sandy had 9,570 inhabitants, of which 4,678 were men and 4,892 were women. 3,052 inhabitants were under 20 years old, 393 over 65.
