Sanjay Ayre (born June 19, 1980 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .
He was a member of the Jamaican 4-by-400-meter relay , which won the bronze medal, at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . Ayre himself was not used in the final, but helped to achieve this in the two qualifying rounds.
At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 , he won the relay gold medal with Michael Campbell , Lansford Spence and Davian Clarke .
He won the next relay medal at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki . As a starting runner, Ayre finished third behind the teams of the United States and the Bahamas, along with Brandon Simpson , Lansford Spence and Davian Clarke .
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , Ayre was eighth in the relay.
As a single starter over 400 meters, he took part in two world championships ( 2001 in Edmonton and 2007 in Osaka ) and once in the Olympic Games (2008 in Beijing), but retired in each of the heats.
Sanjay Ayre is 1.88 m tall and has a competition weight of 84 kg.
