Architecture / history

The origins of the hall construction go back to the late Romanesque period , but were later expanded in the Baroque style. The church suffered damage during the Thirty Years War and was rebuilt and refurbished in 1670. In 1711 the nave was extended to the east and the church windows from the Romanesque period were closed.

West of the nave is the late Romanesque bell tower of a Baroque in the years 1745/46 spire received. In 1999 the tower was renovated.

Interior

A comprehensive renovation of the interior took place between 1937 and 1939. The baroque ceiling paintings on the wooden barrel vault were also exposed and heavily revised. Scenes from the Passion are depicted on medallions between tendrils . The rest of the appearance is also characterized by the preserved baroque furnishings from the last quarter of the 17th century.

The church has galleries on three sides . On the parapet of the northern gallery there are paintings depicting the life of Jesus .

A pulpit altar with richly carved work dates from 1692 . This includes a carved retable from the late Gothic period . The twelve apostles are depicted in the wings of the reredos . The center shrine of the reredos originally housed the depiction of the Coronation of Mary, now the pulpit basket with depictions of the four evangelists and auricle is located there . The sound cover is designed like a tower and decorated with a Christ with a victory flag.

There is a remarkable from 1583 sandstone produced, with crest provided baptism . A wooden crucifix is even older : it dates from the first half of the 15th century.

In the church there is also an epitaph from 1740 for the five children of the bailiff Joh. Jul. Ferdinand Kirchhof.

Rectory

The two-story rectory north of the church is striking. The seven-axis house with a high hipped roof, built in the Baroque style, dates from 1710.
