Sansevieria phillipsiae is a species of plant in the genus Sansevieria in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). The specific epithet honors Edith Cole's companion, the discoverer Ms. Lort Phillips.

description

Sansevieria phillipsiae grows trunk-forming in groups up to 38 centimeters high as a perennial , upright and succulent plant with above-ground runners. The upright trunk is branched at or above the base. The runners are up to 20 centimeters long and 1.3 centimeters thick. The five to ten leaves in rosettes are ascending, later spread out and cylindrical in shape. They have a deep groove on the bottom 5 to 9 centimeters of the top. The simple leaf blade is 10 to 46 inches long and 1 to 2 inches thick. It gradually narrows into a 2 to 3 millimeter long, brown, pointed, hard spade tip. The leaves are slightly bluish dark green, young with pale green transverse bands. The edge of the spread is white. The leaf surface is smooth.

The single- eared inflorescences are 35 to 46 centimeters high. The panicles are 23 to 30 centimeters long and have three to six flowers per clump. The ovate-lanceolate-shaped bract is pointed and 3 to 6 millimeters long. The flower stalk is about 3 millimeters long. The bracts are white. The flower tube is 1 centimeter long. The tips are 1 to 1.5 inches long.

distribution

Sansevieria phillipsiae is common in Ethiopia and Somalia in the shade of trees at an altitude of 1250 to 1450 meters.
