action

Blake Thorne is the richest man in several US states and is rather misanthropic . He loves to pass the time selling muscle building supplements and fighting with his employees. When Blake and his staff set off to play paintball one day , he caught the attention of the local sheriff while driving cross-country, who and his men were in pursuit. Blake's escape ends in Blakeville, where he once grew up. He hides in the local shopping center and puts on a Santa suit to remain undetected. However, some of his old clothes peek out from under the costume and give him away. Blake takes refuge in a garbage chute - he falls into the depths and loses memory on impact. Lenny, disguised as an elf, finds Blake's wallet. Since he is worried about money, he takes her and convinces the awakening Blake that he is indeed Santa Claus. As a result, Blake not only poses in the mall as Santa Claus with the local children, but also beats up two thieves who want to steal the money from a fundraising campaign for the local orphanage. Blake is now known in the local newspaper as "Santa Claus with Muckis".

Blake goes to the orphanage with Lenny. It turns out that the facility is threatened with closure because the evil Ebner Frost wants to buy the house at any price. Nobody knows why, but Frost has already been able to take possession of all the surrounding land through criminal activities. The director of the children's home, Leslie, her colleague Clayton and the remaining three orphans Elizabeth, Sarah and Taylor are in turn taken care of daily by Frost's henchmen Dr. Blight, the mad geologist Dr. Flint, the mad chemist Dr. Vial and Dr. Watts that can generate electricity are terrorizing.

When the people around Blight want to destroy a statue on the home, they are stopped by Blake. He also succeeds in finding out the reason for Frost's interest: under the house there is a cave full of minerals that can develop electrical power up to an explosion when a voltage is applied. Frost wants to make money with it. Blake fends off several attacks by Frost's people, but falls into a garbage truck from the tower of the home during a duel with Blight. He regains his memory, but passes out and only wakes up in his villa. He knows that his adventures as Santa Claus were not dreamed of, he is still wearing his costume, but is apparently asked by Leslie on the phone to leave them all alone. Frost has manipulated the pipes and is now invading the orphanage with his men. He goes to the cave under the house, which is secured with a massive door with a combination lock. While Dr. Flint starts welding the door open with a welding torch, Leslie, Clayton and the children are kept in check by Frost's men. Lenny, however, manages to alert Blake, who now appears with his employees in the home and kills all of Frost's henchmen. Clayton opens his eyes: Blake himself spent his earliest childhood as an orphan at the home before a wealthy couple adopted him. Frost was Blake's best friend at the time.

Dr. Flint has welded open the door to the cave and Frost is looking at the treasures inside. Blake appears in the cave and there is a duel between the two men, in which Frost accuses Blake, among other things, of having deprived him of his future. Back then it was actually Frost's turn to be adopted, but Blake was preferred. As a result of the fight, the crystals in the cave are charged with energy. Leslie, Clayton, Frost, Blake and the children eventually flee the cave and rush out onto the street. A short time later, the home is completely destroyed in an electrical explosion. Frost and his men are arrested by the police. Blake invites all orphans to his mansion. The youngest, Elizabeth, realizes that Blake wasn't the real Santa, but realizes that Blake is much better.

criticism

Santa Claus with Muckis is regularly counted among the worst Christmas films ever made. In 2011 , Atlantic Weekly Daily listed him as the third worst Christmas film of all time, behind Star Wars Holiday Special and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians . Virgin Media put it on the list of ten "Movies for a Grotty Christmas" and Variety called it the "movie equivalent of a coal in a Christmas stocking".

The film-dienst praised the film cautiously as “a fast-paced, charming and heartily told contemporary fairy tale that combines fantastic elements with typical American gags and even gently criticizes the commercialization of Christmas. However, the many brawls that are tailor-made for the main actor [...] have a disturbing effect. Despite these reservations, an entertaining family film. ” Cinema, on the other hand, wrote:“ This Mucki-botch is about as funny as a visit to the dentist - provided he doesn't tell jokes. Conclusion Ho, ho, ho - rarely laughed so little! "
