Sarah Goldberg (born May 31, 1985 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian actress . She gained fame primarily through the role of Sally Reed from the series Barry , which earned her an Emmy nomination .

life and career

Sarah Goldburg was born into a Jewish family in Vancouver. During her school days she developed a great interest in acting and appeared in school productions. After graduation, she was rejected from Juilliard School and subsequently traveled through Europe as a backpacker for a while . Eventually she was accepted at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and therefore moved to the British capital in 2004.

She had one of her first acting engagements after graduating in 2007 at London's Old Vic Theater in the play Member of the Wedding . In London she subsequently played in a number of plays. When she returned to the States, was one of her first engagements the Off-Broadway -Stück Look Back in Anger next to Adam Driver and Matthew Rhys .

In 2008 she took on her first role on camera with a small role in the film A Bunch of Amateurs . A few years later she appeared in mini-roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Gambit - The Master Plan . In 2010 the play Clybourne Park premiered in New York's Playwrights Horizons . Goldberg was cast in a leading role at the UK premiere at the Royal Court Theater later that year. Her performance earned her a nomination for an Olivier Award .

After guest appearances on the Elementary and Black Box series , Goldberg was cast as Lolly Lavigne in the 2015 Hindsight series in a leading role. The series was canceled after only one season. Other film appearances followed, including in Crown Heights , The Hummingbird Project and The Report .

Goldberg has played a leading role as Sally Reed in the Barry series since 2018 . Her acting performance earned her an Emmy nomination in the category Best Supporting Actress - Comedy Series in 2019 .
