Sarah McDonald (born August 2, 1993 in Newcastle upon Tyne ) is a British athlete who specializes in the 1,500 meter run .

Athletic career

Sarah McDonald gained her first international experience at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam , where she finished ninth in 4: 34.92 minutes. The following year she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she was sixth in 4: 13.67 minutes. She also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 4: 06.73 min . In 2018 she participated in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where she finished eighth in 4: 05.77 minutes.

In 2019 McDonald became British champion in the 1500 meter run, and in 2017 she secured the indoor title over this distance. She is a medical student at the University of Birmingham .
