Sararia is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Sararia is the second largest town in the Alto Beni district ( municipality ) in the Caranavi province . The village is located in the Bolivian Yungas at an altitude of 368  m on the left, western bank of the Río Alto Beni . 54 kilometers below Sararia, the Río Alto Beni joins the Río Mapiri downstream .

Sararia is located in the Bolivian Yungas east of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real . The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

The mean average temperature in the region is 28 ° C, the annual precipitation is almost 1600 mm (see climate diagram Palos Blancos). The monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 25 ° C in June / July and 29 ° C from October to March. The monthly precipitation is less than 50 mm in the months of June and July and more than 200 mm from December to February.

Sararia is located at a distance of 253 kilometers by road northeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, the Ruta 3 trunk road leads via Coroico and Caranavi in a north-easterly direction to the bridge over the Río Alto Beni. Thirteen kilometers before crossing the Alto Beni, a dirt road branches off from Ruta 3 in a northerly direction, after one kilometer reaches Bella Vista and then continues via Santa Rosa to Sararia .
