Santa Rosa is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Santa Rosa is the central place of the canton Santa Rosa in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Alto Beni in the province of Caranavi . The village is located in the Bolivian Yungas at an altitude of 620 m in the northwestern foothills of the Cordillera de Cocapata , a few kilometers southwest of the Río Alto Beni .

Santa Rosa is located in the transition area between the Andean Altiplano and the Bolivian lowlands. The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.
The annual average temperature is 25.5 ° C and fluctuates only slightly over the course of the year between 23 ° C in June / July and 27 ° C in November / December (see Caranavi climate chart). Santa Rosa is located at a distance of 225 kilometers by road northeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz, the Ruta 3 trunk road leads via Coroico and Caranavi in a north-easterly direction to the bridge over the Río Alto Beni. Thirteen kilometers before crossing the Alto Beni, a dirt road branches off from Ruta 3 in a northerly direction, after one kilometer reaches Bella Vista and then continues via Santa Rosa to Sararia on the banks of the Río Alto Beni.

Due to the historical population development, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the province of Caranavi 57.8 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
