The Municipio Alto Beni is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . By law 4131 of December 23, 2009, the previous Municipio Caranavi was divided into the Municipio Caranavi in the south and the Municipio Alto Beni in the north.
Location in the vicinity
The municipality Alto Beni has been one of two counties ( Bolivian : Municipio ) in the province of Caranavi since 2009 and is located southwest of the upper reaches of the Río Beni . The municipality comprises 160 localities, ten of which are urban communities ( poblaciones urbanas ), the central place of the municipality Alto Beni is Caserío Nueve with 336 inhabitants ( 2012 census ), the largest village is San Antonio de Eduardo Avaroa with 704 inhabitants.
The municipality Alto Beni borders in the north on the municipality Teoponte in the province Larecaja , in the south on the municipality Caranavi , in the east on the municipality Palos Blancos and the municipality La Asunta in the province Sud Yungas , and in the west also on the municipalities Caranavi and Teoponte.

The municipality Alto Beni is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian "Königskordillere" ( Cordillera Real ) in the transition area between the Andean Altiplano and the Bolivian lowlands. The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.
The annual average temperature is 25.5 ° C and fluctuates only slightly over the course of the year between 23 ° C in June / July and 27 ° C in November / December. The annual precipitation reaches a height of almost 1500 mm, and apart from a short dry season in June / July the climate is humid all year round with monthly precipitation of over 200 mm from December to February.
