The municipality of Palos Blancos is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Palos Blancos is one of five municipalities in the Sud Yungas province and is located in the northern part of the province. It borders the province of Franz Tamayo in the north, the province Larecaja in the northwest , the province Caranavi in the southwest , the municipality La Asunta in the south, the department Cochabamba in the southeast , and the department Beni in the east .
The municipality has 246 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Palos Blancos with 5,478 inhabitants in the central part of the district ( 2012 census ). Other notable places in the municipality are Sapecho with 843 inhabitants, Santa Ana de Mosetenes (721), Inicua with 711 inhabitants, Covendo with 591 inhabitants, Popoy with 558 inhabitants and San Miguel de Huachi with 505 inhabitants.

The municipality of Palos Blancos is located in the Bolivian Yungas at an average altitude of 500 m east of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real and mainly includes the mountain landscape of the Sierra de Marimonos along the Río Beni .
The mean average temperature of the region is 28 ° C, the annual precipitation is almost 1600 mm (see climate diagram). The region has a distinctive daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only insignificantly between 25 ° C in June / July and 29 ° C from October to March.
