Sari Beth Schorr is an American blues rock singer and songwriter from New York .

Career

The daughter of a pilot and a model grew up in a musical environment. Her role models include Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald in particular , but also early blues singers such as Bessie Smith , Ma Rainey and Mamie Smith . During her school and university days she had classical singing lessons. Because of her five octave voice, she was encouraged to become an opera singer. However, Schorr preferred the improvisation of jazz and blues and also began to write songs. Her first appearances were in the Bronx and Lower East Manhattans, for example in the CBGB and in Arlene's Grocery .

2015 saw producer Mike Vernon at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (Tennessee) , where he was awarded in the category "Keeping the Blues Alive", a performance by Sari Schorr and offered her to produce an album with her. Before that, Schorr was already known for her live performances, for example in the New York CBGB Club. She has toured the States and Europe with Joe Louis Walker and Popa Chubby and was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame.

Schorr's debut album A Force of Nature was released in 2016. Her band “The Engine Room”, led by British guitarist Innes Sibun, was part of the party . Oli Brown and Walter Trout also played the guitar as guests . The album includes a cover of Black Betty and received positive reviews. Black Betty also appeared as a music video.

2017 was a successful year for Sari Schorr in Europe. She toured Britain and the mainland with Walter Trout . She also made guest appearances at festivals such as the Steinegg Live Festival in Italy or the Rother Blues Days in Germany.

In 2018 their second album Never Say Never was released , which was recorded live and received positive reviews. In contrast to the blues-oriented debut album, the second album was more in the direction of blues rock.
