action
14 year old Ulysses is a shy and docile boy. After the death of his father, he has to deal with new tasks as the “man of the house”. In addition to his working and now single mother Amara, he lives with his younger brother Abe and his conservative and bossy Aunt Rose in the New York Bronx. Ulysses is just beginning to explore his identity and sexuality, steals nylons, wears his mother's shoes and takes refuge in a world full of fantasy with dance and music. His aunt will not tolerate this. In school he is the target of bullying and ridicule due to his sensitive nature. After being kicked out of his apartment by his aunt, his life takes a positive turn when he encounters a vibrant transgender community who take him to Saturday Church, a program for LGBTQ youth, where he meets like-minded and eventually also finds oneself. Warm meals are served there once a week for homeless, queer youth, where he is greeted by Joan and given fresh clothes.
