The Sauberg is 797 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the western Ore Mountains .
Geographical location
The Sauberg is located south of Breitenbrunn in the Saxon Ore Mountains between the small and large Ortsbach . It was named after the wild boars that often caused great damage to the adjacent agricultural fields.
history
The Sauberg was a popular location for the Elector of Saxony's hunts. A total of 397 large game were shot here in 1665 . The mountain can also look back on a long mining history. After 1945, uranium mining was carried out on the Sauberg , which is still evident from several spoil heaps . The guest houses of the miners have been since the late 1950s years as a working summer camp of the Interflug in Dresden used and later as a restaurant and holiday complex.
