Sautal im Harz is the name of an approximately 400 m long, western and orographically right tributary of the Hassel and at the same time that of the valley of the same name in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt . The flow ordinal number is 6.
The Sautal brook
The Sautal brook flowing in the Lower Harz north-west of Hasselfelde has two streams each at around 460 m above sea level. Source streams rising from the NN . The right source stream is about 200 m long, and the left, which rises about 200 m northwest of it, is about 130 m long. Finally, the east-north-flowing stream flows after about 30 m in height between the sources of its two source streams and its mouth on the left side in the from Rappbode influx Hassel -carrying Hassel Auxiliary Dam .
The Sautal
The course of the Sautal brook lies entirely in the valley of the same name. Nothing is known about the meaning of the name. It is therefore not clear whether the valley was named after the stream or vice versa. The valley is designated as a natural monument . Among other things, many-leaved lupins (Lupinus polyphyllus) were detected in it.
