Savannah Guthrie (born December 28, 1971 in Tucson , Arizona ) is an American journalist and television presenter. She is currently the host of the Today Show . She was previously a correspondent for the largest American broadcaster NBC .

Life and activity

After attending Amphitheater High School, Guthrie studied law at the University of Arizona . She passed her final exam as the best candidate in the country in Arizona. Guthrie received her Doctor Juris degree from Georgetown University Law Center with the title Magna cum laude . She then worked in various law firms such as "Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld" before finally being hired as a reporter for the specialty broadcaster Court TV . Guthrie regularly reported on court cases that attracted particular public attention for Court TV.

In September 2007 Guthrie got a job in the news division of NBC, one of the three major American television companies. For these, she initially reported as a correspondent on processes and legal matters such as the hearing procedure on the occasion of the nomination of Samuel Alito as judge for the United States Supreme Court or the Michael Jackson trial. In December 2008 Guthrie was named permanent correspondent for their station in the White House along with Chuck Todd . In this role, she appears regularly as a reporter on NBC News and on programs on the 24/7 news channel MSNBC , a cable branch of NBC. For MSNBC, Guthrie occasionally takes on the guest moderation of programs such as Way to Early with Willie Geist or Andrea Mitchell Reports when the regular presenters of these programs are absent.

From January 2010 to June 2011 Guthrie also hosted, together with Chuck Todd, the program The Daily Rundown , which is broadcast on MSNBC's morning program from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time , which is a mixture of the latest political news as well as interviews and discussions with guests, loosened up by the Boulevard Elements, presented.

From June 2011 she co-hosted the third hour of the famous Today Show on NBC. In July 2012, she became the show's main host, replacing Ann Curry .
