Life
After completing his training, Marconi initially worked as a theater actor and, among other things, had a stage engagement at the Teatro Metastasio in Prato . In the 1970s he came to film, where he had his breakthrough with the lead role as Gavino Ledda in the literary adaptation Padre Padrone - My Father, My Lord (1977) by the Taviani brothers; in it he played a professor of historical linguistics who was finally able to free himself from the oppression of his father. In Ogro (1979) by director Gillo Pontecorvo , he played a Basque terrorist. In another film by the Taviani brothers, Il Prato (1979), he also played a leading role on the side of Isabella Rossellini ; he played Giovanni, a troubled judge ( magistrato ) in San Gimignano , who falls in love with a young actress and animator for children. In the two Poliziottesco films The Gorilla Says the Bill (1976) and The Syndicate of Horror (1980) he played alongside Fabio Testi .
In the following years he worked with the directors Luigi Comencini and Pasquale Squitieri , among others . He later appeared in erotic comedies (1982; Buona come il pane ) and thrillers (1984; Delitti, amore e gelosia ). With the decline of Italian film in the 1980s, Marconi largely gave up his work as an actor and turned to work as a director. As a director he staged several musicals that were quite successful in Italy .
