Feng Shaofeng ( Chinese  馮紹峰  /  冯绍峰 , Pinyin Féng Shàofēng ; born October 7, 1978 in Shanghai ), also known as William Feng, is a Chinese actor . He was best known for the successful television series Palace (2011). It was ranked 33rd on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 List in 2012. He also won a Hundred Flowers Award in the Best Actor category for his role in The Last Wolf (2015).

life and career

Feng was born in Shanghai as the only son of an official. Under the influence of his mother, he turned to artistic activities as a child and played the violin . After school he was accepted at the Shanghai Theater Academy .

Feng made his first appearance as an actor back in 1998 and then starred on a number of television series including Boy & Girl , Wind and Cloud 2 , Assassinator Jing Ke , Sigh of His Highness, and The Conquest . After his role in the TVB (Hong Kong) and CCTV co-produced series The Drive of Life , he received more attention for the first time. Appearances in Yun Niang and Four Women Conflicts followed . In 2010 he played Liu Zhang in the series Beauty's Rival in Palace . Feng made his breakthrough in 2011 with a leading role in the very popular Palace series . In the period film White Vengeance he played Xiang Yu in the same year and received two awards at the Harbin Film Festival 2011. This was followed by roles in Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012), a sequel to Gordon Chan's film Painted Skin from 2008, and alongside by Fan Bingbing in Double Xposure , a romantic thriller directed by Li Yu .

As the title character Lan Ling Wang , Feng appeared in Prince of Lan Ling in 2013 . The series was particularly successful in Taiwan and increased the actor's fame there. In the same year he also had a leading role in Detective Dee and the Curse of the Sea Monster by Tsui Hark . In 2014, he was voted Most Popular Actor of the Year at the Beijing Student Film Festival . Together with Tang Wei , he starred in the 2014 film The Golden Era by Ann Hui , which was shown at the 71st Venice International Film Festival . Feng wanted to work without pay because he felt it was a great honor to work with the director. He had another role in The Continent by Han Han .

In 2015 he got a role in the French-Chinese co-production The Last Wolf , based on a bestseller by Jiang Rong (2004). During the filming, Feng and his acting partner Shawn Dou had close contact with the title-giving wolves. For this role he was named Best Actor at the 33rd Hundred Flowers Awards . This was followed by an appearance in the film The Three-Body Problem . In The Monkey King 2 , Feng embodied Xuanzang in 2016 . Following the fantasy film Ice Fantasy , and a Chinese remake of My Best Friend's Wedding , Feng returned to television in 2017 with a role in The Starry Night, The Starry Sea .
