Han Han
Han Han ( Chinese 韓寒 / 韩寒 , Pinyin Hán Hán ; born September 23, 1982 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese rally driver, writer, blogger, editor of the magazine "Soloist Choir " ( Duchang tuan独唱 团) and songwriter.
Life
The first publications fall during middle school years. The Songjiang District Second Middle School in Shanghai is a prestigious school that Han Han attended because of above-average athletic performance. In the first year of high school (1999) he won a first prize for young writers with the text “Self- Contemplation in the Glass” ( by zhong kui ren杯中 窥 人). He then stayed seated because he did not pass the exams at the end of the school year in seven subjects. After the media reported about it, this sparked controversy over education to come of age ( suzhi jiaoyu素质 教育), i.e. the question of whether the goal in school should be general or special education. His first novel "The Triple Door" ( San chong men三重 门) is about the life of a student in the third year of lower school and made him known in other parts of China. The book had a total circulation of two million copies and was the best-selling novel in the last twenty years. After Han Han repeated the second year of high school, he fell through seven subjects again and eventually dropped out.
After dropping out of school he continued to publish the short stories Lingxia yi du零下 一度 (“One degree below zero”), Tonggao 2003通 稿 2003 (“Drafts for 2003”), Jiu zheme piaolai piaoqu就 这么 漂 来 漂 去 (“Flushed up and washed away ”) and Za de wen杂 的 文 (“ mixed up ”) as well as the novels“ The triple door ”,“ Like youth, nimble and stormy ”( Xiang shaonian la feichi像 少年 啦 飞驰),“ Chaos in Chang'an ”( Chang'an luan长安 乱), Yi zuo cheng chi一座 城池,“ Day of Honor ”( Guangrong ri光荣 日) and“ His Kingdom ”( Ta de guo他 的 国). Aside from writing, Han Han is a huge fan of motorsport and decided to pursue a career as a professional driver. Although fewer books subsequently appeared, he continued to write and write critical essays on his blog, many of which received a great deal of attention and some of which led to controversy.
In February 2005, the work Tong jing痛经 by the young author Jie Hang 解 sollte was to be turned into a TV drama in a Hollywood production and a shooting was planned in northern China. Since Han Han resembled the lead actor in the drama, he was recommended by the Chinese production company Hollywood. In a newspaper interview, Han Han said, “I haven't received an invitation yet and would generally decline the offer.” He went on to say, “Whether it's Hollywood or not, whether I'm in a movie depends on who the leading lady is When he was told in the interview that the drama was about a love affair between a student and a teacher, Han laughed and said that this "makes it even less likely that I will take on the role."
Han Han occasionally writes lyrics, for example his first album Shiba jin十八 禁 ("From 18") was released in September 2006 , for which he wrote the lyrics himself. In 2010, Han took on a guest role in the film Dongwu shijie - zhaiju dongwu动物 世界 —— 宅 居 动物 ("Animal World: The Cyber-Animals") by Hu Ge胡戈.
Han Han married his long-time girlfriend Jin Lihua 金丽华 in May 2010 and they have one daughter.
Blog controversy
Dispute between Han Han and Bai Ye
On March 2, 2006, Han Han replied to Bai Ye 白 烨, a literary critic and bookseller who wrote a blog post titled “The Present Situation and Future of Those Born in the 80s” ( “Bashi hou” xianzhuang yu weilai 80后"现状与未来). Han Han's blog post entitled" the literary scene is a joke, you measure anything on! "( Wentan shi ge pi, shui dou bie zhuangbi文坛是个屁,谁都别装逼). Up The only discussion about this dispute was whether both belong to the so-called generation of authors born in the 80s and whether they have already arrived in the established literary scene, which, however, now developed into a dispute between Han and Bai On March 4, Bai Ye wrote an article entitled "A Personal Response to Han Han" ( Wo de shengming - huiying Han Han我 的 声明 - 回应 韩寒), which was not taken as a literary reply, but suspected of being a personal one Insult and personal assault occurred and subsequently involved The writer Lu Tianming 陆天明, his son and young director Lu Chuan陆川 and the Chinese famous musician Gao Xiaosong 高晓松 joined the controversy and made it a hotly debated topic on the Internet. Han Han did not skimp on the above on his blog, chose expressions from vulgar language and got them, including Bai Ye, to gradually close their blogs. In 2010, Gao Xiaosong and Lu Tianming came to terms with Han Han again. Gao also responded to the invitation to send in manuscripts for Han Hans' soloist choir.
More controversy
Han questioned modern Chinese poetry. In a series of blog posts that began with “Why is there still modern poetry and lyric poetry?” ( Xiandai shi he shiren weishenme hai cunzai现代 诗 和 诗人 为什么 还 存在) on September 26, 2006, he scorned modern Chinese poetry , including the late Xu Zhimo徐志摩 and Hai Zi海子 and the "abdomen poets" ( xia banshen shiren下半身 诗人) Shen Haobo 沈浩波, Yang Li 杨黎, Yi Sha 伊沙 and Dong Li 东篱.
On April 19, 2007, Han Han called the singing competition “Super Girl” 2006 (roughly China's DSDS), whose jury also included rock musician Zheng Jun, “terribly vulgar”, but in 2007 he was a jury member in the singing competition “Super Boy ". In response, he wrote “About my current engagements” ( Zuijin de yixie anpai最近 的 一些 安排) on his blog and expressed doubts about his previous statements about Zheng Jun, which ultimately led to a controversy between the two.
Online bookstore and creation of a magazine
On April 19, 2009, Han Han opened “Han Han's Bookstore” at Taobao Internet auction house , which promised to sell only signed books. With too much sales and too many transactions, the auction house's system automatically closed the bookstore for accepting bogus transactions and credit card fraud.
On 1 May 2009. Han Han published on his blog at sina.com invitation "contributions for a new magazine sought employees sought; envisaged fees; Address for manuscripts ”( xin zazhi de zhenggao xin, zhengren xin, gaofei biaozhun, tougao youxiang新 杂志 的 征稿 信 , 征 人 信 , , 稿费 标准 , 投稿 邮箱) in order not to publish a magazine himself, but since he was afraid of pirated prints, he named Names, just an address for manuscripts, job postings and a contact address for advertisers. Public attention was paid to the fact that the cover story, if it was first published, was rewarded with 2,000 yuan per 1,000 characters, which is about ten to forty times the average fee of Chinese publishers and about two to four times what the largest magazines pay their star authors pay: 1,000 yuan per 1,000 characters, more than ten to twenty times that amount; for articles already published elsewhere, the largest magazines pay 500 yuan for every 1,000 characters, and in Han Han's magazine it is fifteen times the average. Up to 5,000 yuan can be paid for a photo. Han Han also announced a column for naocan脑 残 ("insane"), Internet slang for idiot or troll , which is paid at 250 yuan per 1000 characters. 250 ( erbaiwu二百五) means “ complete idiot” in Chinese, Han Han commented on this decision to include such “authors”:
“In each issue there will be two to three articles, the ones with the most absurd views and the worst style, which form a negative example of the magazine. The magazine will declare the authors "insane" who are against humanity, common sense, justice and freedom. The magazine's point of view is that such a style should also reach the public. To do justice to these authors, such articles are rewarded at 250 yuan per 1000 characters, which is a very high fee compared to other magazines. The "250" didn't fall from the sky, I thought something about the cost. "- Han Han
Five days after posting, there were over ten thousand manuscript submissions from all over China and over a thousand résumés. Interestingly enough, Han Han found some among them that clearly did not meet the requirements set out above, such as plagiarism, pornographic narratives and examination papers. Han Han made it clear again that he would not include such articles in the magazine.
His magazine project received a lot of attention, another editor said it would transform Han Han into a true man of letters ( wenren 文人 ), and one journalist saw it as the completion of the transformation from a rebellious youth to an intellectual. However, due to some restrictions that publishers in China are subject to, Han Han postponed the first edition of Soloist Choir, which was planned for August 2009, for one year. It did not appear until July 6, 2010. The first edition was nevertheless enthusiastically received by the readers, the publisher Huawen Tianxia stated, At Amazon.cn, online pre-orders have already risen to number one of the bestsellers within ten hours.
Career as a rally driver
After Han Han decided to pursue a career as a professional racing driver, he once complained about the precarious financial situation that authors and racing drivers earn comparatively little. In his case, there was also the fact that he had not participated in any advertising events organized by publishers and the rights income from his books represented his only income. But motorsport gives him a sense of success and reaching for the trophy testifies to his fully developed personality of a good student.
“My income comes from the rights to my books, I have no business acumen, I have never had stocks and I have no stake in any fund. The fact that I drive a rally for fun wastes the most money and leaves hardly anything for cooking at home. ”- Han Han
“I have never participated in any commercial campaigns, and I turn them down every year. I could easily earn 3 million yuan in the promotions, but I'm afraid I won't be able to stop. ”- Han Han

Miscellaneous
The New Statesman ranked Han Han 48th in the “World's 50 Most Influential Figures 2010”.
His father Han Renjun 韩 仁 均 had prepared his personal name with the Chinese character hán寒 (basic meaning “cold”) as a pseudonym, but he never used it. When Han Han's mother was pregnant with him, his father chose the name as a “literary legacy” for his son or daughter, still ignorant of the gender. The origin is therefore not an allusion to the weather on the day of birth.
