Sawkuds Dzabojewitsch Dsarassow ( Russian Савкудз Дзабоевич Дзарасов ; January 5, 1930 , † July 12, 1990 ) was a Soviet wrestler of North Ossetian origin. He was a bronze medalist at the 1960 Olympic Games in free style heavyweight.

Career

Sawkuds Dzarassow grew up in Ordzhonikidze in North Ossetia and began wrestling there as a teenager. As a member of the Soviet Army, he was stationed in various cities and after 1953 was several times champion of Moscow , Ukraine and the RSFSR in free style in the heavyweight division. Until 1956, Arsen Mekokishvili dominated the events in the weight class of Dzarasov in the Soviet Union . When he resigned in 1957, Sawkuds Dzarassow fought with Iwan Wykristjuk and Omar Kandelaki for supremacy in the Soviet Union in the heavyweight division. Finally, Dzarasov was able to assert himself from 1958. That year he won the Soviet championship in the absence of Kandelaki and Wykristjuk before V. Batlidze and Sitko. In 1959 he won the Second Spartakiad of the USSR in the heavyweight division ahead of Ivan Wykristjuk and the young Alexander Medved .

In the same year Sawkuds Dzarassow was also used at the World Cup in Tehran . He won two fights there and fought against Pietro Marascalchi from Italy and against Hamit Kaplan from Turkey , with which he won the 3rd place and thus the World Cup bronze medal. 1959 defeated Sawkus in an international match between the RSFSR against Hungary János Reznák on points.

Although Dzarasov finished in the Soviet heavyweight championships in 1960 only 3rd place behind Omar Kandelaki and Alexander Vladimirovich Ivanitsky , he was sent to the Olympic Games in Rome . He won his first four fights there, including victories over Pietro Marascalchi and the former Olympic and multiple world champion Bertil Antonsson from Sweden , but then lost to Hamit Kaplan on points and even suffered a shoulder defeat against the German Wilfried Dietrich . But at least he won the Olympic bronze medal.

From 1961 Sawkuds Dzarassow was replaced in the Soviet Union by Alexander Medved and Alexander Ivanitsky . He therefore came to no more assignments at international championships. He said goodbye to the Soviet Army and studied sport in Vladikavkaz. After that, Dzarasov worked for many years as the head of the sports organization of the trade unions of North Ossetia.
