Scars on Broadway is the debut album by the band of the same name Scars on Broadway . It was released on July 29, 2008 by Interscope Records and is mainly attributed to alternative rock .

Music genre

When asked in which stylistic direction the album would go, Malakian answered as follows:

“It will probably be something electronic mixed in with traditional Armenian and thrash, death, black, and doom metal influences. When, or even if, the music comes out, it will still be structured, just like System of a Down's music is. "

- Daron Malakian

“It will probably be something electronic with influences from traditional Armenian music and from Thrash, Death, Black and Doom Metal. At that point, or if the album even comes out, it will still be structured like System of a Down. "

- Daron Malakian

The idea for the electronic style was already demonstrated at all System-of-a-Down concerts in 2005; instead of singing the chorus on "Sugar", "War" and "Old School Hollywood" Malakian changed his voice electronically with a vocoder . In a recent interview, Daron Malakian revealed that the music style is also influenced by classical rock music similar to that of David Bowie , Brian Eno , Yes, Neil Young , and Roxy Music. He also said that the style of the music is evolving from System of a Downs Alternative Metal to a more song-based work.

History of origin

Scars on Broadway began recording their debut album on September 27, 2007. About two months later, on December 6, 2007, the drum parts for the album were complete and the band was able to move to their next studio. On July 25th, the band released a teaser for the track "Babylon".
