history

The oldest mention of the place as Schonenwalde is from 1437 , in a feudal process between the families of Redern and von Hake . In 1708 a new mansion was built by Dorothea Dorothea von Rosey according to plans by Andreas Schlüter , and in 1737 a new church.

In 1932 Schönwalde-Siedlung became an independent district. On October 26, 2003, Schönwalde merged with the neighboring communities of Grünefeld, Paaren im Glien, Pausin, Pernewitz and Wansdorf as part of a community reform to form the new community of Schönwalde-Glien.
