The shaft sinking Nordhausen GmbH (SBN) is a German industrial company consisting of the traditional special mining companies Gebhardt & Koenig was born. In addition to the headquarters in Nordhausen , Thuringia, there are locations in Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, the United Arab Emirates and Lengenfeld in Saxony . The company has been part of the Bauer Group since 1992 .

history

Thanks to the development of the freezing process in the sinking of wells by the company's founder, Louis Gebhardt (1861-1924) and the engineers Hugo Joosten and Wilhelm Zaeringer was the Nordhäuser company Gebhardt & Koenig - under different names and with multiple name changes - since the beginning of the 20th century the world leader in shaft freezing technology.

During the Second World War , around 30% of the Nordhausen operations of Gebhardt & Koenig - Deutsche Schachtbau AG were destroyed in the air raids on Nordhausen . After the end of the war, production could be resumed in a remarkably short time.

As a result of the division of Germany , many companies were split up, including Gebhardt & Koenig - Deutsche Schachtbau AG . The main plants in Nordhausen - like almost all companies in the Soviet occupation zone - were affected by dismantling . They took place between January 1946 and July 1947. The Nordhäuser parent plants were nationalized in May 1947 and initially owned by the State of Thuringia . From then on they traded as the German shaft construction and deep drilling company Nordhausen / Harz (formerly Gebhardt & König) . On May 5, 1948, the German Economic Commission decided to incorporate the company into the Association of People's Own Enterprises (VVB) shaft construction and drilling companies in the coal industry based in Nordhausen. Further name changes and changes to the assignment followed:

  • 1954: VEB shaft construction, consolidation and sealing in Nordhausen
  • 1959: VEB Schachtbau Nordhausen of the VVB non-ferrous metal industry based in Eisleben
  • 1968: VEB Schachtbau Nordhausen in the Mansfeld combine "Wilhelm Pieck"
  • January 1, 1990: VEB Schachtbau Nordhausen
  • June 8, 1990: Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH (conversion according to the GmbH Act )

Exploration developed into an important business area . Schachtbau Nordhausen won numerous contracts abroad for exploration and shaft construction.

In 1992 Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH was taken over by the Bauer Group . As a result, several subsidiaries were founded:

  • 1994: Nordhäuser Building Inspection Institute GmbH (NBI)
  • 1997: Subsidiary Schachtbau Nordhausen Großprojekte GmbH
  • 2006: Subsidiary MMG Mitteldeutsche MONTAN GmbH
  • 2009: Subsidiary Schachtbau Romania srl
  • 2009: TOO SCHACHTBAU Kazakhstan

Business areas

Structure of Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH

The five business areas of Schachtbau Nordhausen are:

  • Mining: The focus is on the production, securing, rehabilitation and custody of underground cavities of all kinds.
  • Plant engineering: construction and equipping of water management systems, such as B. Sewage treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Mechanical engineering: The main design and construction of the upper and lower carriages as well as well drilling rigs. In addition, there is component production for the Bauer Group.
  • Steel construction: mainly active in bridge construction (steel bridges, composite steel bridges). Since a large part of the production uses the welding joining process, there is a DVS course facility in the SBN .
  • Construction: Engineering structures (including prestressed concrete bridges as road and railway bridges, tunnel construction using the cut-and-cover method, trough structures) and repair of reinforced concrete, concrete and natural stone structures

In addition, the SBN carries out large and heavy transports and offers mobile cranes.

The Nordhausen Corrosion Protection Center is located on the premises of Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH . It is one of the largest and most modern facilities in the region.

research

From 2006 to 2009 Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH was a project partner in a research project on "extending the service life of existing and new welded steel structures", the so-called "Refresh" project. Here, high-frequency hammering was developed to increase the fatigue strength of weld seams. The technique of weld seam treatment by high-frequency hammering has been used successfully in many projects since then.
