Schafhof is a district of the Upper Franconian municipality of Ahorn in the Coburg district .
geography
Schafhof is about five kilometers southwest of Coburg . The district road CO 12 leads through the town to which Seemühle belongs to Wohlbach , from which a communal road branches off to Hohenstein . The Wohlbach, a right tributary of the Itz , flows through Schafhof. To the west of the Wohlbach is the town of Ziegelhütte ⊙ , which until 1931 belonged to the Staffelstein district office and has since grown together with Schafhof.
history
In 1452 Schafhof had the place name "Schaafhoff". It was a closed economic unit that belonged to Hohenstein Castle . From 1485 the place was part of the Electorate of Saxony , from which the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg later emerged.
Schafhof has been part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Ahorn since 1839. The place was previously assigned to Watzendorf . The community of Hohenstein was incorporated into Schafhof on June 20, 1898. The children attended school in Wohlbach in the first half of the 20th century.
In a referendum on November 30, 1919, a Schafhofer citizen voted for the accession of the Free State of Coburg to the Thuringian state and 39 against. From July 1, 1920, Schafhof also belonged to the Free State of Bavaria .
In 1925 the village had 105 inhabitants and 16 houses. 24 people lived in Hohenstein and there were 5 houses.
In 1950 Schafhof had 171 residents and 23 residential buildings. Due to a Caritas refugee retirement home in Hohenstein Castle, 106 people lived in the district.
On January 1, 1971, Schafhof was incorporated into Ahorn.
In 1987 Schafhof had 179 residents and 43 residential buildings. 13 people lived in Hohenstein and there were 7 houses.
