Schaibing is a district of the Markt Untergriesbach in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau . Schaibing formed an independent community until 1971.

location

Schaibing is located about three kilometers northwest of Untergriesbach on the state road 2320.

history

The name Schaibing is derived from the location on a plateau (disk). The -ing ending refers to the settlement of the area at the time of the first conquest. The place itself was created due to clearing in the centuries of settlement. During the time of the Passau bishopric , Schaibing was subordinate to the Obernzell nursing court .

From the tax district Leizesberg and parts of the tax district Ederlsdorf, the municipality Leizesberg was formed in 1818, which included the places Haunersdorf, Hubing, Hundsruck, Leizesberg, Mitterreuth, Nebling, Rampersdorf, Rothenkreuz, Saxing, Schaibing, Schergendorf, Schmölz, Steinbruck and Ziering. In 1825 it was renamed the municipality of Schaibing. In 1868 the new district of Knappenreut was established, and in 1925 Bavariaschacht, Friedrichschacht, Hedwigschacht, Kronawitterschacht, Kropfmühl and Schaibing Bhf.

In 1829 the place Schaibing received a school house. Due to the extensive graphite mining ( Hauzenberger graphite ) taking place in the area, the new districts of Bavariaschacht, Hewigschacht, Knappenhäusl, Knappenreuth, Krameröden, Kronawitterschacht and Kropfmühl came to the municipality of Schaibing in the middle of the 19th century .

In 1935 an emergency church was built next to the village chapel, and on June 1, 1937 the Schaibing branch was built. When a teacher's house was built from 1938 to 1939, the school building could be expanded generously. The first Americans marched into Schaibing on May 1, 1945 at around 5 p.m. After the war, many refugees came to Schaibing and had to be housed with the farmers.

In 1952 the foundation stone of a church was laid and the solemn consecration took place on September 21 and 22, 1953. Between 1954 and 1955 the community under Mayor Königseder from Schergendorf built its own community hall next to the school building. On September 1, 1954, the Schaibing Expositur was elevated to a parish and the former Karl Prinz Exposit was appointed pastor.

Because the old school no longer met the requirements in any way, the local council under Mayor Albert Kammermeier from Leizesberg decided in 1959 to build a new and larger school in the immediate vicinity of the old school. On May 2, 1960, the construction company Anetzberger from Obernzell began with the earthworks and construction work. On September 15, 1961, the 244 children were able to move into six classes. October 27, 1961 was the day the schoolhouse was inaugurated.

The parish church foundation acquired the old schoolhouse for 20,000 DM and converted it into a kindergarten for 115,000 DM with grants from several sides. On February 17, 1962 the inauguration and opening of the kindergarten took place.

From 1965 the land consolidation was carried out. The Schaibing-Kropfmühl light railway was dismantled in 1968. In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Schaibing was dissolved with effect from January 1, 1972 and incorporated into the municipality of Untergriesbach. The community names Bavariaschacht, Friedrichschacht, Hedwigschacht, Knappenreut, Krameröden, Kronawitterschacht and Kropfmühle were abolished; the district of Schaibing-Bahnhof came to the municipality of Thyrnau . At the census on May 25, 1987, Schaibing had 637 inhabitants.
