Schalaghasch ( Kazakh Жалағаш , Russian Жалагаш Schalagasch ) is a place in the region Kyzylorda in southern Kazakhstan .

geography

Shalaghash is located in southern Kazakhstan in the Qysylorda region around 70 kilometers north of the city of Qysylorda on the right bank of the Syr Darya . This is used in the region for intensive agricultural irrigation; apart from these areas, the area is characterized by dry deserts.

The 1999 census showed a population of 14,486 people for the place. At the last census in 2009, Schalaghasch had 13,479 inhabitants. As of January 1, 2020, the extrapolation of the population resulted in a population of 12,800 people.

The regional trunk road R69, which runs parallel to the M32 on the right side of the Syrdarja, runs through the village . It leads in a northerly direction to Schossaly and in a southerly direction via Terengösek to Kyzylorda . In Schalaghasch, the trunk road R71 branches off, which connects several villages to the trunk road network in a westerly direction. The Trans-Aral Railway runs through Schalaghasch and there is a train station in the center of the village.
