The Gebhard house at Schalksgasse 4 in Mühlbach , a district of the city of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , is a half-timbered house built in the 16th century . The building stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .

history

This half-timbered house from the Renaissance was built by the cooper Hans Weidmann, his wife Adelia and two sons. The house goes back to one of the former 13 Fronhöfe of the Mühlbach monastery, which came after the end of the monastery as town courts to the city of Eppingen. In the tax documents from 1776, the farm located in the Unterdorf is listed under No. 13. With 79 acres of associated courtyards, it was by far the largest of the 13 courtyards. Six Malter Korn and four Malter Dinkel had to be paid in terms of taxes.

When Oechelhäuser described the building in 1909, the half-timbering on the upper floors was plastered.

description

The building is a two-story residential building that is covered by a half-hip roof. The ground floor is solidly walled up from local sandstone , the slightly protruding upper floor is made of half-timbered construction, and the gable floor also protrudes slightly.

Doors and windows on the ground floor have profiled sandstone walls , the portal is marked with the year 1582. Next to the portal is a relief stone with coats of arms, animals and other representations. The half-timbered structure of the upper floors has an abundance of ornamentation: the wood is carved, woven and banded and rosettes over the entire surface . Some of the windows on the upper floor are grouped into groups of two and three, which, in the style of Franconian bay windows, protrude slightly from the facade thanks to an additional ornate wooden frame.

The shed dormers in the roof are more recent fixtures, they are not yet available on older photos of the building.
