District Schambach

The main town and Ackerhof belong to the district of Schambach .

history

Schambach was first mentioned in a document around 826/830 as "Scambach". The first mention of Schambach Castle (seat of Hofmark Schambach ) followed in 1251. It was rebuilt several times and in its current form dates from the 16th century.

The village renewal initiated in 1998 with the construction of a new village square brought traffic calming to the village center. In 1999 the new building area on the northern edge of the village was opened up. Dreiseithöfe still shape the townscape today .

Former municipality of Schambach

On May 1, 1978, the community was dissolved in the course of the regional reform and Schambach was incorporated into the community of Straßkirchen. The community Schambach consisted of the main town and the wasteland Ackerhof .

Archaeological finds

An archaeological investigation of the new development area "An der Ackerhofstraße" in 1997 revealed settlement findings mainly from the late Hallstatt and early La Tène periods , as well as grave finds from the late Bronze and Urnfield Ages , including very high-quality and decorated grave ceramics. In addition, the investigation also provided finds and findings from the middle Roman Empire . Special geological conditions have preserved finds and archaeological findings of astonishing quality.
