traffic

The city is on the Turkestan-Siberian Railway . Since October 9, 2008, a route has been branching from here to the Eastern Kazakh administrative center Öskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk). The new railway line will bypass the sections of the previously used line to Öskemen and Syrjanowsk , which run on Russian territory, on Kazakhstan.

The M38 trunk road (European route 127) runs near the city .
