Ürschar ( Kazakh Үржар , Russian Урджар Urjar ) is a place in Kazakhstan .
geography
Ürschar is located in eastern Kazakhstan in the Eastern Kazakhstan region at the southern foot of the Tarbagatai Mountains . Two small rivers flow through the village, which have their source in the nearby mountains and merge south of Ürschar to form the Ürschar river of the same name ; this finally flows into the Alakölsee . The place is located about 130 kilometers southeast of Ajagös and about 100 kilometers northwest of the Chinese city of Tacheng .
history
The place was founded in 1854 as a Cossack settlement . Its establishment was part of the campaign to increase the Russian population in the Semirechye and Ili regions by the Russian Tsar Alexander II . The village was first named Stanitsa Karabulakskaja (Станица Карабулакская) and was mainly used to develop the southeastern part of the Semipalatinsk region. At first the population consisted mainly of Siberian Cossacks, later other settlers, mainly farmers, from Siberia settled here. Later he was renamed Stanitsa Urdscharskuju (Станица Урджарскую). The place developed into a regional trading center, so caravan routes led through Ürschar and between 1867 and 1879 the village hosted a Chinese trade mission.

At the 1999 census, Ürschar had 16,830 inhabitants. The last census in 2009 showed a population of 17,320 for the place. The extrapolation of the population resulted in a population of 12,822 as of January 1, 2020.

Ürschar has a small regional airport ( IATA code : UZR, ICAO code : UASU). From here there are connections to Almaty , Nur-Sultan as well as to Öskemen and Semei . The Kazakh highway A8 runs through the village, which runs as an east-west route from Taskesken via Ürschar to the Chinese border at Tacheng.
