Oxana Alexandrowna Jazkaja ( Russian Оксана Александровна Яцкая ; born September 22, 1978 in Urschar , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh cross-country skier .

Career

Jazkaja started in Davos for the first time in the cross-country skiing world cup in December 1995 and finished 76th in the 5 km freestyle. At the 1996 Winter Asian Games in Harbin , she won the silver medal with the relay and the gold medal over 5 km classic. She got her first World Cup points at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997 with 21st place over 30 km classic. At the 2003 Winter Universiade in Tarvisio , she won the bronze medal with the relay and the silver medal over 5 km classic. In February 2003, she won the silver medal over 5 km classic and the gold medal with the relay and over 10 km freestyle at the Winter Asian Games in Aomori prefecture . In the 2003/04 season she made it into the points 13 times in the World Cup singles. With the ninth place over 10 km classic in Umeå, she achieved her first top ten placement in the individual World Cup. At the end of the season she achieved 30th place in the overall World Cup and thus achieved her best placement in the overall World Cup. In the 2004/05 season she finished 38th in the overall World Cup with eight results and in the 2005/06 season also with eight results in the 39th overall World Cup. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Seefeld in Tirol , she won the gold medal with the relay. The Tour de Ski 2006/07 she finished in 30th place. At the Winter Asian Games 2007 in Changchun , she won the gold medal over 5 km classic and relay. She was also fifth in the sprint. After she paused in the 2007/08 season due to pregnancy, she achieved 34th place in the 2008/09 Tour de Ski in the 2008/09 season . At the Tour de Ski 2009/10 she came in 33rd place and at the Nordic Opening in November 2010 in Kuusamo on 55th place. In February 2010 she reached in Canmore with the sixth place in the sprint, her best place in the individual World Cup. At the Winter Asian Games 2011 in Almaty she won the bronze medal in the sprint and the gold medal with the relay and together with Jelena Kolomina in the team sprint. In the 2011/12 season she took 62nd place at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo and 46th place at the Tour de Ski 2011/12 . In November 2011 she got her last World Cup points with the 27th place in the sprint in Düsseldorf . In the Tour de Ski 2012/13 she managed to place 50th. She ran her last World Cup race in February 2013 in Davos, which she finished in 55th place in the sprint.

Jazkaja participated in the Winter Olympics in 1998 in Nagano , 2002 in Salt Lake City , 2006 in Torino and 2010 in Vancouver in part. Her best individual result was 15th in the skiathlon in Salt Lake City and in the 30 km mass start race in Turin. Her best placings in eight world championships ( 1997 , 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2007 , 2009 , 2011 and 2013 ) were eighth in the 30 km mass start race in February 2005 in Oberstdorf and fourth place with the relay in February 2003 in Fiemme Valley .
