The Scharder Bach is an approx. 1.5 km long, southwest and left tributary of the Wupper , which is called Wipper here in the upper reaches.

The Scharder Bach rises at an altitude of 382 m northwest of the Marienheid district of Vorderscharde . It flows in an easterly direction south past the Rehberg , taking in numerous small spring tributaries. From the right, the Scharder Bach gets inflow from the Vorderscharder Bach and the Hinterscharder Bach .

In the lower reaches of the stream the brook crosses the route of the Wippertalbahn as well as the federal highway 256 and flows shortly afterwards at a height of 316 m at Marienheide- Schmitzwipper in the Wupper.

Catchment area

The one square kilometer catchment area of ​​the Scharder Bach is drained into the North Sea via the Wupper and Rhine .

It borders

The catchment area is predominantly forested in the northern part, otherwise there is grassland, partly also arable land. It is shaped by the clay , silt and sand as well as subordinate limestone of the Eifelium level of the Middle Devonian. Over the rocks, silty clayey brown earth with deep sand and rubble soils with little usable field capacity has been deposited. The highest point is the Hauerberg at 437.7  m in the southwest of the catchment area. Other named mountains are the 419.2  m high Schöttlen Berg in the southeast and the Rehberg ( 412.4  m ) in the northwest. Settlements are Vorderscharde and Hintererscharde in the south.
