The Ipomoea coccinea ( Ipomoea coccinea ) is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae).
description
The scarlet morning glory is a climbing , annual , herbaceous plant . The leaf blades of the leaves are heart-shaped, pointed and 5 to 15 cm long. The leaf margin is entire or angularly lobed. The petioles are slender.
There are a few to several flowers on a peduncle . The sepals are about 4 mm long, blunted towards the front but awned awning. The crown is 2.5 to 4 cm long, five-angled or slightly five-lobed. The stamens are slightly above the crown. The ovary is four-chambered.
The fruits are spherical capsules 6 to 8 mm in diameter that open via four flaps. The seeds are partly hairy yellow-brown, silky.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.
Occurrence
The species is common in tropical America . Their home is northern and central Mexico; however, it is often a neophyte in North America.
