The shade autumn crocus ( Colchicum umbrosum ) is a species of the genus of the timeless ( Colchicum ) in the family of the timeless plants (Colchicaceae).
features
The shade autumn crocus is a perennial bulbous plant . The 3 to 8 leaves measure 8 to 17 × 1 to 2.7 centimeters and are ribbon-shaped. The 1 to 6 flowers are funnel-shaped to star-shaped. The Perigonzipfel are narrow, white to purple-pink and measure 15 to 30 × 2 to 6 millimeters. The anthers are 3 to 4 millimeters long.
The flowering period extends from August to September.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
Occurrence
The shadow autumn crocus occurs from southern Ukraine to Crimea and from northern Turkey to the Caucasus on meadows, in moist, open woodlands and in clearings. The species often grows on clay.
