Shelomi or Schlomi ( Hebrew שְׁלוֹמִי Schlōmī ) is a developing city in Israel's northern district . Schelomi was named after an important biblical person ( Num 34.27 EU ) from the Ascher tribe , whose territory extended here. In 2018 Schlomi had 6351 inhabitants.
Shelomi is mainly supported by the UJIA (United Jewish Israel Appeal) and Jewish youth organizations in Great Britain.
The site has been repeatedly targeted by Katyusha rocket attacks by Hezbollah :
- on Israeli Independence Day, Yom HaAtzma'ut , on May 12, 2005
- on Israeli Independence Day, Yom HaAtzma'ut, on May 3, 2006
- on July 12, 2006, at the beginning of the 2006 Lebanon War .
