Edgar Schiedermeier

Edgar Josef Schiedermeier (born November 8, 1936 in Munich ) is a former German postal worker and politician of the CSU .

Life

Schiedermeier attended grammar school in Cham until 1954 and was then employed as a post office clerk at the Cham post office. In 1973 he was elected to the local staff council, one year later as its chairman. From 1985 he was also a member of the district staff council. He had to stop working at what was then the Bundespost when he switched to politics in 1993.

In addition, Schiedermeier was the diocesan chairman of the Catholic workers' movement in Regensburg .

Schiedermeier was a member of the executive board of the CSU Upper Palatinate as secretary, was in the workers' union and the CSA chairman in the Upper Palatinate district and deputy state chairman, as well as honorary general secretary of the EUCDW . From 1972 to 1994 he was a member of the Cham city council, and from 1976 onwards also to the district council.

On July 5, 1993, Schiedermeier moved to the European Parliament, to which he was a member until 1999. There he was a regular member of the Committee on Social Affairs, Employment and the Working Environment or Employment and Social Affairs, in the delegation in the EU- Romania joint parliamentary committee and in the joint assembly of the agreement between the states of Africa , the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean and the European Union .
