The Schieferbächel is a left tributary of the Schwarzwasser in the area of Johanngeorgenstadt in the Saxon Ore Mountains . Today the course of the stream is mostly piped.

The Schieferbächel rises north of the city center of Johanngeorgenstadt in today's Mittelstadt east of Eibenstocker Strasse. The stream flows eastwards down the middle Fastenberg and flows into the Schwarzwasser near the train station of Johanngeorgenstadt at the former hut house of the St. Georg Stolln . Not far from the estuary, the mill ditch was diverted to the Finkmühle and the Zinnhütte . When the new station was built in 1899, the streambed was relocated a little.

Mining has been carried out in the valley of the Schieferbächel since the 17th century, some remains of which can still be seen today.

Christian Gottlob Wild reported in 1809 that in the valley of the Schieferbächels there used to be a number of small ponds, surrounded by shady maple trees on the side of the path . However, the ponds were allowed to dry out, the grass was used and the maple trees felled.

During the flood on July 6, 1931, the Schieferbächel caused considerable damage and was partially piped at the end of the 1940s due to the uranium mining of Wismut AG . Around 2000, further parts of the slate brook were piped when the factory building of the former VEB Modesta Johanngeorgenstadt was demolished.
